Mindset Media
Funded by the Winfield Venture Group, Vancouver-based Mindset Media is a socially conscious, non-profit media company dedicated to promoting social issues through compelling multimedia content. Due to its nonpartisan status, the non-profit society can promote opinions and perspectives rarely featured in mainstream media outlets.
Mindset Media is a key media and advocacy partner in the Conflict & Development Program (CDP) of the Liu Institute for Global Issues, a research organization based out of the School of Graduate Studies at the University of British Columbia. The Conflict & Development Program conducts field-based research and high-level advocacy to promote human security in conflict and post-conflict zones. Currently focused on northern Uganda, the CDP is working in partnership with Mindset Media and an advisory board consisting of human rights, youth, women and traditional and religious leaders.
Among its advocacy efforts, Mindset Media financed and produced the soon-to-be-released documentary film 'Uganda Rising' chronicling the plight of child victims in the war-ravaged country.
As co-founder and Executive Director, Alison Lawton is actively involved in Mindset Media's operations on the creative, financial, social development, networking and administration levels. The organization is a natural central point to her ongoing advocacy work.
