CKNW Orphans Fund
The CKNW Orphans Fund is a charitable division of Corus Entertainment that promotes the mental and physical health and welfare of disadvantaged children throughout the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.
With Corus Entertainment providing all promotional and administrative services to the fund, 100% of every dollar raised goes back into the community. Examples of the application of the organization's funds include:
- Equipping a cancer treatment lab at Children's Hospital
- Financing research into the immunology of children's diseases
- Providing student scholarships and bursaries for single parent students
- Creating a leadership rehabilitation program for street kids
- Financing activities and programs for special needs children
Alison has served on the board of directors of the CKNW Orphans Fund, Alison Lawton helps to raise and distribute over $1 million per year to those in need.
