Incorporated in 2001, Acumen Fund is a global non-profit venture fund and a network of investors, advisors and organizations championing entrepreneurial, market-oriented solutions to global poverty.
The focus of Acumen Fund is to create blueprints for building financially sustainable and scalable organizations that deliver affordable, critical goods and services that help the poor. The fund operates like a venture capital firm, identifying promising initiatives and supporting them with financial backing, expertise and technical assistance.
Alison Lawton began to assist Acumen Fund with program financing in 2002. In 2004, she was a member of an Acumen Fund team that went to India on a social enterprise mission.
Alison continues to provide expertise and funding to Acumen Fund and is listed by the organization as a Senior Partner.
