Alison has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Montreal's Concordia University and a Master of Applied Sciences from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia. Alison is also a graduate of the Canadian Securities Course.
Research
To further develop the well-rounded political and economic understanding necessary to advance her work and that of affiliated organizations, Alison Lawton continues to conduct research in the areas of technology and globalization and its impact on political and economic landscapes.
Her focus is on building academic research into functional models that can be actively applied to positive effect through entrepreneurial solutions. Alison's areas of study and interest include:

- Governance of the Internet: Policy and Civil Liberties in Cyberspace
- Internet as a "Commons"
